Math / Waveshaping / Oscillator
Bessel function of the first kind, order 1. It can be used as an oscillator directly with X, or as a special waveshaper for unusual harmonic movement.
Use J1(X) for a playable oscillator. Try values around -4.0 to 4.0 for waveshaping another signal. Use it gently in musical presets because the curve can thin or invert parts of the tone.
J1(X)
J1(2.0*sin(X))
For pitched oscillator functions, X already contains the current MIDI note pitch and transpose information. Prefer saw(X), sin(X), or pwm(X, 0.4) unless you intentionally want an octave or ratio shift such as 0.5*X or 2*X.
