attack()

attack(samples)

Category

Envelope / Control

Description

Attack envelope multiplier. The argument is an attack time measured in Syntropy's 44.1 kHz reference samples. Small values such as 10 are percussive, while 20000 to 80000 can make slow pads.

Example: attack(44100)*sin(X)

Arguments

Typical Values

Around 10 to 500 is fast, 1000 to 8000 is medium, and 20000+ gives long pad-like motion. In this reference domain, 44100 is one second, and Syntropy rescales internally so the audible timing stays the same at other host sample rates.

Example

attack(800+28000*param(0))

Notes

In factory presets, attack() is usually placed near the front of the full voice formula and multiplied with release(). It shapes note loudness, but it can also be reused as a control source for filter or timbre motion.
