Oscillator / Waveshaper
Discrete-summation-formula oscillator. It creates rich harmonic stacks; the ratio/index controls brightness and, in Syntropy 2, the third argument is a normalized shape value in the 0..1 range.
Syntropy 2 change: in version 1 presets the third argument was commonly used as a harmonic-count style value. In Syntropy 2 use a normalized shape value such as 0.9 for a bright DSF tone. Older presets are adjusted for compatibility when they are loaded.
Example: dsf(x*2*pi()*440/44100,0.5,50)
Use moderate values first, then increase modulation depth while listening for clipping, aliasing, or excessive filter resonance.
dsf(X*0.5012, 0.4*exp(-pos()/8000), 0.9)
For pitched oscillator functions, X already contains the current MIDI note pitch and transpose information. Prefer saw(X), sin(X), or pwm(X, 0.4) unless you intentionally want an octave or ratio shift such as 0.5*X or 2*X.
