envloop_file()

envloop_file(stretch, "file.env")

Category

Envelope / Control

Description

envloop_file() reads a named .env file from the Envelopes folder, just like env_file(), but after reaching the end it jumps back to the beginning and loops endlessly.

Arguments

Typical Values

Stretch around 0.5 to 8.0 is typical. 1.0 plays one loop at normal speed; smaller values make the loop cycle faster, and larger values make it cycle slower. This function is useful for repeating rhythmic or cyclic modulation shapes stored as external envelope files.

Example

envloop_file(1, "triplet_pulse.env")*saw(X)
mg(saw(X), 0.02 + 0.25*envloop_file(4, "movement.env"), 0.1)

Notes

The quoted filename is resolved from Syntropy's Envelopes folder, and those .env files can be edited graphically in the Envelope Editor opened from the Envelopes button in the Edit view toolbar. If a formula uses several external looped envelope readers, Syntropy assigns the internal reader instances automatically.
