gaborosc()

gaborosc(x, width, cycles)

Category

Oscillator

Description

Experimental Gaussian-windowed oscillator. It creates a Gabor-style wavelet inside each oscillator period: a cosine tone multiplied by a Gaussian envelope.

Arguments

Typical Values

Try width from 0.25 to 0.75. Lower cycles values create softer wavelet pulses; higher values create brighter bell-like or granular tones. For knob control, param() values from 0.0 to 1.0 scan the musical 1..16 cycle range.

Example

0.35*gaborosc(X, 0.38, 0.45)

Notes

Because narrow Gaussian windows can be very bright, use realtime or rendering oversampling for aggressive settings. The function is intended for experimental wavelet-like tones, impulses, bells, plucks, and granular-flavored oscillator layers.
