lift()

lift()

Category

MPE / Note Release

Description

Returns a release-tail multiplier driven by note-off velocity in the range 0.0 to 1.0. Use it together with release() or releasex() when you want faster or softer finger lift to shorten the tail of a note after key-off.

Arguments

No arguments.

Default Behavior

Before the release region starts, lift() returns 1.0. When note-off arrives, Syntropy uses the received note-off velocity to shape an additional exponential attenuation over the already-declared release tail. Higher lift values preserve more of the tail, while lower lift values shorten it more strongly.

Example

release(5000)*sin(X)*lift()

Notes

lift() is safest when used as a multiplier on the released sound rather than as a direct replacement for the release time itself. A good pattern is to keep release() or releasex() musical on its own, then multiply by lift() to shorten the tail depending on the release gesture.
