Sample Playback / Oscillator Source
sample() plays a WAV file from C:\ProgramData\SonicModeler\Syntropy\Samples. It can be used as an audio source inside a formula, shaped by envelopes and processed by filters or FX.
The second argument controls playback speed. For normal keyboard-tracked pitch use tone(). Smaller values play the sample more slowly and lower; larger values play it faster and higher.
tone()In stereo formulas, the left formula channel reads the left channel of a stereo WAV and the right formula channel reads the right channel. In mono formulas, stereo WAV files are mixed to mono.
0.8*attack(200)*release(12000)*sample("choir_a.wav", tone())
#Left
0.6*release(40000)*sample("texture.wav", tone(), 44100, 132300)
#Right
0.6*release(40000)*sample("texture.wav", tone(), 44100, 132300)
Available since Syntropy version 2.2.
sample() is sample-rate and oversampling ready. Timing is referenced to Syntropy's 44.1 kHz formula domain, so playback speed remains stable when the host sample rate or realtime oversampling changes.
For portable presets, install the referenced WAV files into the Syntropy Samples folder on the target computer.
